Does Strike Patterns or Shoe Conditions Have Greater Influence on Running Impact

چکیده

The aim of this study was to explore whether strike patterns or shoe conditions have significant influence on running impact and plantar pressure. A total of 12 healthy male volunteers were requested to run under shod and barefoot conditions with heel and forefoot strike to complete 3 trials for each condition. Kinetic data were recorded during the experiment. For ground reaction force, shod run with heel strike significantly reduces the maximum load rate and extends the time to reach the peak of impact force. For plantar pressure, strike patterns have a significant influence on plantar pressure. When sports shoes are used, pressure on forefoot strike is less than that on heel strike, and a greater push-off force can be obtained relative to the barefoot. Thus, a suitable pair of sports shoes is needed for toe–toe running to reduce risk of injury and improve performance.
